Sue Smith has been asking Nottingham City Council (NCC) for years to remove the ivy from the Wollaton Dovecote, especially as it risked compromising the fabric of the building. (NCC own the building and we lease it from them.) The usual answer has always been along the lines of... "it is too high, it is too costly, it is too thick, it is too difficult". However, week commencing 16 February 2026 contractors actually turned up to do the job!
Over the last 6 months missing tiles have been replaced on the roof, the windows have been repaired and now this.
Well done NCC 👏🏻.
